Date of residency: two month long residency between April and June 2016

Profile of the resident: Visual artist living and working in Wroclaw and Lower Silesia. We are looking for graphic designers. We are very much interested in hosting creatives who have experience with working with open design fab labs.
Preferred topics: DIY, fablab, recycling, participatory or community arts and crafts, old machines – new crafts, gaming, data visualisation – infographics, innovation

Applications including CV (in a tabular form with an overview of past exhibitions, etc.), portfolio of recent works (up to 5 different projects), project description and cover letter commenting on artist intention (all in Polish and English) should be sent not later than the 7th of Februrary 2016 (until midnight) to Krzysztof Bielaszka, the coordinator of AiR Wro Artist in Residence Programme, via email:  krzysztof.bielaszka@wroclaw2016.pl. The selection will be made by a special jury between the 8th and 14th of February in Wroclaw (PL) and the 15th and 21st of February in Plzen (CZ). The results will be published on the 29th of February 2016. 

In your cover letter please mention what are the topics and issues you are currently working on or you would like to target during the residency. Let us know what motivates you to come to live and work in Pilsen.

During the residency the artist will take part in at least two public events. One of the will be a workshop/artist talk/informal meeting with fellow artists and/or broad public (to be decided together with the artists) and the final presentation of his/her work at the end of the residency. The events are organized by OPEN A.i.R. team.

The organiser of the residency will provide:

• transport
• honorarium  (1000 € gross)
• accommodation 
• studio, Makerspace
• material and technical equipment required for the residency (up to €500)
• regular meetings with OPEN A.i.R. team

DEPO2015 is an outcome of the Pilsen – European Capital of Culture 2015 project. The heart of DEPO2015 is The Centre for Creative Enterprise which connects culture with business and creative industries. The depot is a place where both start-ups and established companies reside, work, create, present and trade.

A community of creative people with great ideas and the ambition to realise them has the opportunity to go through a process of incubation, i.e. to kick-start their business plan with the assistance and mentoring of professionals from the culture and creative industries, they can use a shared working space, an open workshop to make prototypes or rent a studio or an office. DEPO2015 is also an open cultural space which is needed for the development of new ideas, and it increases the attractiveness of the place for the people who reside, work and create at DEPO2015 as well as the general public. Exhibitions are held here as well as performing arts events and interesting meet ups. 

Accommodation for residents:
The artist will be accommodated in his/her own room in a flat located in the city of Pilsen. Kitchen, bathroom and toilet will be shared with other flatmates. 

Technical conditions of the residency:
Other material and technical equipment needed for implementing residencies will be provided by the OPEN A.i.R. and AiR Wro as per mutual agreement.
