CO.CON 2023 For one day, the Pilsen cultural and creative zone DEPO2015 was engulfed by the world of science fiction and fantasy. On January 28, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the second year of the CO.CON festival took place here, which provided fans of these genres with an environment full of board and PC games, Cosplay, WarGames, arcade games, retro games and racing simulators, virtual reality, robots, comic book heroes, sales stands, interesting guests and, above all, great experiences. There was also Pokémon or the Czech Repubrick exhibition, which presented a giant construction of Hogwarts Castle made of a million LEGO® bricks, a playroom with DUPLO® bricks for the little ones and a construction workshop for older children. Those interested could also visit an escape game or try augmented reality. CO. CON is the largest event of its kind in the west and therefore really took over the entire areaDEPO2015. The large-capacity bus hall has been transformed into a giant game room. Some visitors also arrived at the festival in costumes. The program was also enriched by examples of student game creations fromSUTNARKS with the introduction of a new follow-up master's field. In the gallery spaces, visitors could then go through the exhibitionsComic pel-grinding studio Media illustration FDU LS and Abstract character design important Pilsen graffiti and comic creatorsObras and Akrobada. The artistic theme also resonated in the cafe, where it took place in the afternoonillustrator battle among the comic creators from the groupDRAWetc . Pro návštěvníky, kteří dávají přednost klasickým hrám před těmi počítačovými, byl v Tržnici připraven velký prostor s deskovými hrami. Zahrát si mohli deskovky a karetní hry od velkých společností jako Albi nebo Black fire, ale i od menších nezávislých studií např. Maty Moves nebo plzeňské komunity Kavenu . Navíc si mohli vyzkoušet velmi speciální deskovky WARGAMES odehrávající se na několika velkých stolech plných modelů prostředí, a dokonce si k nim namalovat svoji herní figurku. Program neopomenul ani obrovsky populární Pokémony. Na festivalu měl tento japonský fenomén vlastní stánek PokéMaster s nabídkou balíčků karet , výběrem merche i možností si zahrát . Rodiny s dětmi nadchla herní výstava modelů z kostek LEGO® Czech Repubrick v prostorách Klempírny. Ta zavedla návštěvníky do světa Harryho Pottera , kde mimo jiné našli obří stavbu školy čar a kouzel v Bradavicích , která je největší stavbou z kostek LEGO® na světě vytvořená jedním člověkem. Na její stavbě se pracovalo téměř dva roky a spolkla okolo milionu kostiček. V herní části se starší děti zabavily ve stavitelské dílně a na ty menší od 18 měsíců čeká herna s kostkami DUPLO® , bludišti a bazény s hromadami kostek LEGO®. Zájemci mohli navštívit také novou rodinnou únikovou hru Záhada plzeňského metra. V rámci Cosplay subkultury mohli návštěvníci v areálu po celý den potkávat postavy v do detailu vypracovaných kostýmech. Narazit mohli na hrdiny ze Star Wars zastoupené Czech Garrison 501st Legion a The Rebel Legion Lion Basev , postavy z Pána prstenů v podání skupiny Lotrverse i na další populární klaďase a záporáky ze světa komiksů, sci-fi a fantasy. V kostýmech dorazili na festival také někteří návštěvníci. Program obohatily také ukázky studentské herní tvorby ze SUTNARKY s představením nového navazujícího magisterského oboru. V galerijních prostorech si pak návštěvníci mohli projít výstavy Komiksové pel-melení ateliéru Mediální ilustrace FDU LS a Abstract character design významných plzeňských graffity a komiksových tvůrců Obrase a Akrobada. Výtvarné téma rezonovalo také na kavárně, kde v odpoledních hodinách proběhl ilustrátorský battle mezi komiksovými tvůrci ze skupiny DRAWetc . Prodejní část festivalu nabídla tržiště , kde návštěvníci nakoupili vše od komiksových knih přes počítačové i deskové hry až po sběratelské předměty. CON --- TACT The popular Czech-Bavarian Days, which have been held in Pilsen since 2015 in connection with the European Capital of Culture and took place in the years 2017-2019 as part of the Czech-Bavarian cultural platform under the Treffpunkt brand, continue under the new name kultur | contact | creative Artist residencies | Festivals | Meeting | Symposium Pilsen and Regensburg are traditionally close to each other. The "culture | contact | creative" project is a continuation of the Czech-Bavarian platform, which you know mainly thanks to the festival's Treffpunkts. DEPOvLETU 2020 From 6/30 to 8/28, the DEPO2015 courtyard was home to live concerts, gastronomic and musical evenings, a summer cinema, theater and special programs for families with children. The whole series of events was given the collective name "DEPOvLETU". The main goal of the project was to support the vibrant cultural scene in the region and support especially local independent artists and other cultural professions, which felt the difficult time associated with the virtual stoppage of cultural activity during the Covid-19 pandemic. "DEPOvLETU" is a comprehensive regular program consisting of several types of events. Tuesday and Friday evenings livened upconcerts especially local independent artists and bands. "Art Wednesdays" were devoted tosummer cinema, author reading whoseartistic director intended for the general public and cultural connoisseurs. Nice connectionDJ sets andgastronomy as part of Thursday's programs"Eat'n'Beat" and"Saturday Cocktail" they offered a different gastronomic experience each time. And last but not least, families with children were also remembered and within the framework of the afternoon program blocks -Depot for children , the experience oftheatrical performances with workshops. As part of the concerts on Tuesdays and Fridays, more than30 open air concerts local bands. On each of these evenings it was possible to listen to an almost three-hour program of 1 or 2 bands. Volunteers The cultural volunteering program of the Pilsen 2015 project, called the Guardian Angels Club, is an open platform for the general public that develops cultural volunteering in Pilsen. The program was created during the preparatory years of the Plzeň - European Capital of Culture 2015 project, and during its existence, more than 500 volunteers participated in the organization of cultural, educational and research events through it. In 2015 alone, they devoted more than 6,000 hours of their free time to culture. The program continues to operate and DEPO2015 has become its home stage. However, in addition to the activities of the Plzeň 2015 organization, the activities of the volunteers focus on supporting other cultural organizations and institutions such as: Pěstuj sprot, French Alliance Plzeň, West Bohemian Museum in Pilsen, Study and Science Library of the Plzeň Region, Film Servis Plzeň and the Finale and Dance Prague festival . DEPOvLET 2021 A summer cultural marathon full of music, dance, good food and a relaxed summer atmosphere dominated the DEPO2015 courtyard throughout July. The DEPOvLETU festival followed up on its premiere last year and once again offered a program mix that aimed to start and stir up the cultural scene after the long coronavirus break. Apart from the Na Stojáka event, entry to the entire festival was free. The offer of programs consisted of three types of events:dance halls, gastro events andconcerts , which was supplemented by onestand up night . All Friday and Saturday evenings in July belonged to concerts of popular bands. As in the previous year, mainly local bands got a lot of space. For three Monday evenings, the courtyardDEPO2015 it went back in time to a time a hundred years ago, when they were rolling on the stagesjazz bands and on the parquet floors it spun in rhythmswing . Both experienced dancers and complete beginners were welcome, as well as those who just wanted to come and watch and found out from listening that swing is performed by the bestPilsen jazz bands grabbed his heart. WALLZ 2022 The third year of the international street art festival WALLZ took place in Pilsen from June 13 to 18, 2022. During the previous two years of the festival, more than 20 large-scale paintings by top artists from all over Europe were created on buildings, bridges and walls throughout Pilsen. Their works of art significantly improved the environment of selected locations in Pilsen, replacing unsightly peeling facades or old advertising banners. This trend will be followed by this year's edition, which will enrich the public space of the city with another dozen wall paintings. Among the invited artists were once again famous names from the Czech Republic and abroad, combining both a distinctive handwriting of realistic and figural painting, as well as colorfully engaging abstraction. This year's ambassador for the European Capitals of Culture was Tadas Šimkus from Lithuania's Kaunas 2022. The expected surprise was certainly the participation of world-renowned artist Brad Downey. This year's selection of locations for creation was very diverse - there was a nearby city center, a school facade, technical buildings, an underpass, part of the embankment, but also the much-discussed squatter's house in Jateční Street, where one of the most popular Czech street art artists, Chemis, left his painting. The festival was accompanied by a varied accompanying program in the form of a graffiti jam open to the general public, a Czech-German conference on art in public space and children's workshops. The DRAWetc studio was also involved with its artists. RECONSTRUCTION AND FUTURE OF DEPO2015 DEPO2015 buildings are awaiting reconstruction > Service will be limited, but we are not closing! A total "big" reconstruction during which the entire DEPO was supposed to be closed for several years is not currently planned, the reconstruction will be carried out gradually, with partial operation. The investor and contractor of the construction is the city of Pilsen. The company Plzeň 2015, z.ú. , which is the operator of the creative and cultural zone DEPO2015, has only an advisory voice in the process of planning and building construction. A tender for the construction contractor is currently being announced. In the first phase, in the years 2024–2025 , the roof and windows will be replaced on the building that houses the Ústředna café, Klempírna, Tržnice and all adjacent spaces towards Cukrovarská Street. It will be possible to use the second building, i.e. the Bus Hall and all other spaces towards Presslova Street, including rental spaces, parking and the courtyard. The reconstruction of the roof will begin on 1 October 2024 and will take place in two stages, the first of which will last from 1 October 2024 to 31 May 2025 and the second from 1 June to 29 September 2025. Objects reconstructed in the second stage, will not be accessible even in the first stage. We will take over all rental premises affected by the reconstruction on 31/08/2024, cleared in such a way that we can secure them during September and prepare them for handover to the construction contractor by 1/10/2024. All tenants were informed about the situation in November 2023, when the information was bindingly confirmed by representatives of the city of Pilsen. We are happy that there will be an improvement in the technical condition of the buildings, at the same time we are aware of the considerable limitation of operation during the reconstruction and we also expect a gradual restart after its completion. We are currently intensively working on scenarios of operation during the reconstruction period , we do not have an operational model yet, but we would like to preserve as much as possible of the activities that we implement during the reconstruction period and after it. The schedule for the subsequent reconstruction in 2026-2027 is currently being prepared as a follow-up to the construction development of the surrounding area. The DEPO2015 building will continue to serve the culture and development of creative industries in the future. A new development is planned for the entire area, which will significantly transform this district in the future, see the Cukrovarská territorial study and the Doudlevecká territorial study. It is currently possible to reserve a date for your events in DEPO2015 in the years 2024–2026 , however, interested parties are warned of a possible change in the situation according to current developments. CRAFTSMAN SUBURBAN CAMP 2024 A week full of craft activities and creations from various materials took place again under the outdoor tent in the courtyard of DEPO2015. The children got to know basic tools and materials, and could try different techniques for working with wood, metal or recycled materials as part of their own project. At the end of the week, each participant had completed one original project, the implementation of which was advised by a team of our experienced lecturers.
