CO.CON 2023 For one day, the Pilsen cultural and creative zone DEPO2015 was engulfed by the world of science fiction and fantasy. On January 28, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the second year of the CO.CON festival took place here, which provided fans of these genres with an environment full of board and PC games, Cosplay, WarGames, arcade games, retro games and racing simulators, virtual reality, robots, comic book heroes, sales stands, interesting guests and, above all, great experiences. There was also Pokémon or the Czech Repubrick exhibition, which presented a giant construction of Hogwarts Castle made of a million LEGO® bricks, a playroom with DUPLO® bricks for the little ones and a construction workshop for older children. Those interested could also visit an escape game or try augmented reality. CO. CON is the largest event of its kind in the west and therefore really took over the entire areaDEPO2015. The large-capacity bus hall has been transformed into a giant game room. Visitors could try out both the current PC games , so immerse yourself in history and "steam" on the old onesarcade machines whosePinball. They weren't missing eithergaming console andtop racing simulators . For visitors who prefer classic games to computer games, Tržnice has prepared a large onearea with board games. It took almost two years to build it and it swallowed around a million bricks. In the play area, older children had fun in the construction workshop, and for those younger than 18 months there is a playroom withwith DUPLO® cubes ,mazes and pools with piles of LEGO® bricks. Those interested could also visit the new onethe family escape game Mystery of the Pilsen Metro. WithinCosplay subcultures, visitors could meet characters in elaborate costumes throughout the day. They could encounter heroes from Star Wars representedCzech Garrison 501st Legion andThe Rebel Legion Lion Basev , characters from lord of the rings presented by the groupLotterverse also on other popular heroes and villains from the world of comics, science fiction and fantasy. Some visitors also arrived at the festival in costumes. The program was also enriched by examples of student game creations fromSUTNARKS with the introduction of a new follow-up master's field. In the gallery spaces, visitors could then go through the exhibitionsComic pel-grinding studio Media illustration FDU LS and Abstract character design important Pilsen graffiti and comic creatorsObras and Akrobada. The artistic theme also resonated in the cafe, where it took place in the afternoonillustrator battle among the comic creators from the groupDRAWetc . The sales part of the festival offeredmarketplace , where visitors bought everything fromcomic books over computer and board games aftercollectibles. Pro návštěvníky, kteří dávají přednost klasickým hrám před těmi počítačovými, byl v Tržnici připraven velký prostor s deskovými hrami. Zahrát si mohli deskovky a karetní hry od velkých společností jako Albi nebo Black fire, ale i od menších nezávislých studií např. Maty Moves nebo plzeňské komunity Kavenu . Navíc si mohli vyzkoušet velmi speciální deskovky WARGAMES odehrávající se na několika velkých stolech plných modelů prostředí, a dokonce si k nim namalovat svoji herní figurku. Program neopomenul ani obrovsky populární Pokémony. Na festivalu měl tento japonský fenomén vlastní stánek PokéMaster s nabídkou balíčků karet , výběrem merche i možností si zahrát . Rodiny s dětmi nadchla herní výstava modelů z kostek LEGO® Czech Repubrick v prostorách Klempírny. Ta zavedla návštěvníky do světa Harryho Pottera , kde mimo jiné našli obří stavbu školy čar a kouzel v Bradavicích , která je největší stavbou z kostek LEGO® na světě vytvořená jedním člověkem. Na její stavbě se pracovalo téměř dva roky a spolkla okolo milionu kostiček. V herní části se starší děti zabavily ve stavitelské dílně a na ty menší od 18 měsíců čeká herna s kostkami DUPLO® , bludišti a bazény s hromadami kostek LEGO®. Zájemci mohli navštívit také novou rodinnou únikovou hru Záhada plzeňského metra. V rámci Cosplay subkultury mohli návštěvníci v areálu po celý den potkávat postavy v do detailu vypracovaných kostýmech. Narazit mohli na hrdiny ze Star Wars zastoupené Czech Garrison 501st Legion a The Rebel Legion Lion Basev , postavy z Pána prstenů v podání skupiny Lotrverse i na další populární klaďase a záporáky ze světa komiksů, sci-fi a fantasy. V kostýmech dorazili na festival také někteří návštěvníci. Program obohatily také ukázky studentské herní tvorby ze SUTNARKY s představením nového navazujícího magisterského oboru. V galerijních prostorech si pak návštěvníci mohli projít výstavy Komiksové pel-melení ateliéru Mediální ilustrace FDU LS a Abstract character design významných plzeňských graffity a komiksových tvůrců Obrase a Akrobada. Výtvarné téma rezonovalo také na kavárně, kde v odpoledních hodinách proběhl ilustrátorský battle mezi komiksovými tvůrci ze skupiny DRAWetc . Prodejní část festivalu nabídla tržiště , kde návštěvníci nakoupili vše od komiksových knih přes počítačové i deskové hry až po sběratelské předměty. CON --- TACT The popular Czech-Bavarian Days, which have been held in Pilsen since 2015 in connection with the European Capital of Culture and took place in the years 2017-2019 as part of the Czech-Bavarian cultural platform under the Treffpunkt brand, continue under the new name kultur | contact | creative Artist residencies | Festivals | Meeting | Symposium Pilsen and Regensburg are traditionally close to each other. The "culture | contact | creative" project is a continuation of the Czech-Bavarian platform, which you know mainly thanks to the festival's Treffpunkts. We are now adding exchanges of young artists to them. They will be given the opportunity to create abroad for several weeks and present their works to you at festivals in the spring in Pilsen and in the fall in Regensburg. DEPOvLETU 2020 From 6/30 to 8/28, the DEPO2015 courtyard was home to live concerts, gastronomic and musical evenings, a summer cinema, theater and special programs for families with children. The whole series of events was given the collective name "DEPOvLETU". The main goal of the project was to support the vibrant cultural scene in the region and support especially local independent artists and other cultural professions, which felt the difficult time associated with the virtual stoppage of cultural activity during the Covid-19 pandemic. "DEPOvLETU" is a comprehensive regular program consisting of several types of events. Tuesday and Friday evenings livened upconcerts especially local independent artists and bands. "Art Wednesdays" were devoted tosummer cinema, author reading whoseartistic director intended for the general public and cultural connoisseurs. Nice connectionDJ sets andgastronomy as part of Thursday's programs"Eat'n'Beat" and"Saturday Cocktail" they offered a different gastronomic experience each time. And last but not least, families with children were also remembered and within the framework of the afternoon program blocks -Depot for children , the experience oftheatrical performances with workshops. As part of the concerts on Tuesdays and Fridays, more than30 open air concerts local bands. On each of these evenings it was possible to listen to an almost three-hour program of 1 or 2 bands. The music genres were really diverse. People could thus choose from a wide range that led fromswing overreggae afterpunk . During the several years of the festival, not only did localities throughout Pilsen look better, but also the residents' awareness of art in public space and the perception of its importance rose significantly. DEPOvLETU 2024 PROGRAM 2024 DEPOvLETU summer holiday concert series at DEPO2015! The fifth year of the DEPOvLETU summer concert series will present discoveries and constants of the Czech and German club scene in the industrial area of the creative zone DEPO2015 . From Brit-pop, rock'n'roll, punk rock to psychedelic rock, the first two weeks of August will be heard. DEPOvLETU is now part of the international Music Connection project, thanks to which Czech and German music groups meet not only on stage in Pilsen, but also on the German border. Among the Czech representatives of the domestic and foreign festival and club scenes will appear, for example, dirty rock'n'roll bands Dirty Blondes , who have traveled through Europe, the new project of Irish singer Travis O'Neill under the name A Clan of Wolves, and alt-pop singer Iggy Mayerov, who is resonating on the radio charts. On the side of neighboring Germany, the rock power trio Filistine or the surf-rock band The Roaring 420s will perform. With a new album, the German group Atomic will visit the Czech Republic again, which has shared stages with many stars, e.g. Pete Doherty's Babyshambles, Kula Shaker or Chumbawamba. THE HIDDEN CITY The "Hidden City" project was created as part of the European Capital of Culture 2015. At the beginning, the idea was to give the residents of Pilsen and their guests a tool that would guide them through the unknown corners of Pilsen, introduce them to forgotten stories and show the city from an unexpected perspective. In 2016, the association Skrytá Plzeň was founded, which continues to organize neighborhood walks. The work on the guide led to meetings with a number of people, witnesses, active residents and archives, and the Hidden City thus became one of the projects that most involved the residents of Pilsen in cooperation. One of the main outputs of the project is the printed publication Guide to the Hidden Pilsen, the digital version of which can be downloaded HERE . The Pilsen family photo album exhibition, or a program of commented walks around the city led by witnesses, anthropologists and the city's inhabitants, also helped to discover the hidden identity of Pilsen. Neighborhood walks usually operate from May to October and present both the history and the present of the places that the average tourist does not have the chance to visit. Part of the Hidden City project was also the successful participatory project "Pilsen family photo album", in which several hundred citizens of Pilsen participated, from whom we managed to collect about 3,000 photos, which were digitized and a selection exhibited at 2 exhibitions in DEPO2015. MIG 21 in Pilsen The popular boy band, dance, singer and stripper from Prague 5 - Smíchova comes with a romantic new song Life seems sweet, written by frontman Jiří Macháček. He was so busy with the lyrics for the new song that he forgot about the nagging pain in his back that had been bothering him for several months. "Life seems sweet" will be heard together with other megahits of the MIG 21 group at concerts during the busy festival season, as well as on the upcoming autumn tour called Podzim Tour 2024, during which they will also visit DEPO2015 in Pilsen. "Life seems sweet, it won't come back," sings Jiří Macháček in a new energetic single about the power of the present moment. "The text was created in pain. That is, not that he causes them, but rather frees them from them," says the singer. "It was back pain. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Now I just laugh about it, but I will have that song attached to my back forever," adds the author of the text. The music was composed by guitarist Tomáš Polák. "We also made a beautiful intimate video clip for the song. It's a romantic journey of a curious camera through a woman's body. KEI ICHIKAWA – DIVING INTO THE WRECK In March, the GAFA gallery will host the exhibition DIVING INTO THE WRECK by the Japanese artist KEI ICHIKAWA from the Painting studio of the Faculty of Design and Art of Ladislav Sutnar. "Creating art here in the Czech Republic is an experiment for me as well. Local folk traditions, such as the carnival, were very stimulating for me, as were the cities I visited. I would like to travel with the audience to the invisible sea."
