Zajímá vás program? www.depo2015.cz DEPOvLETu 2021 A summer cultural marathon full of music, dance, good food and a relaxed summer atmosphere dominated the DEPO2015 courtyard throughout July. The DEPOvLETU festival followed up on its premiere last year and once again offered a program mix that aimed to start and stir up the cultural scene after the long coronavirus break. Apart from the Na Stojáka event, entry to the entire festival was free. The program consisted of three types of events: dance parties, food events, and concerts, complemented by one stand-up comedy night. All Friday and Saturday evenings in July were devoted to concerts by popular bands. As in the previous year, local bands were given the most airtime. For three Monday evenings, the courtyard of DEPO2015 went back in time a hundred years, when jazz bands rocked the stage and the dance floor spun to the rhythm of swing. Experienced dancers, complete beginners, and even those who just wanted to come and watch were welcome, and perhaps while listening they discovered that swing performed by the best jazz bands in Pilsen had captured their hearts. For those who preferred good food to dancing, two themed gastronomic evenings were prepared. On June 22, it was possible to taste various Asian specialties at the Taste Asia event. On June 29, Mediterranean cuisine took center stage. The Seafood & Prosecco gastronomic evening featured delicacies such as shrimp and calamari, but as the name suggests, there was no shortage of refreshing prosecco either. The third event dedicated to gastronomy was the popular all-day DEPO Street Food Market on June 25, which traditionally brought food trucks and stalls with the best of world street food. Fans of stand-up comedy will not have missed the Na Stojáka event, featuring the (in)correct humor of comedians Adéla Elbel, Tomáš Matonoha, and Richard Nedvěd. Zajímá vás program? www.depo2015.cz DEPOvLETu 2020 From 6/30 to 8/28, the DEPO2015 courtyard was home to live concerts, gastronomic and musical evenings, a summer cinema, theater and special programs for families with children. The whole series of events was given the collective name "DEPOvLETU". The main goal of the project was to support the vibrant cultural scene in the region and support especially local independent artists and other cultural professions, which felt the difficult time associated with the virtual stoppage of cultural activity during the Covid-19 pandemic. DEPOvLETU is a comprehensive regular program consisting of several types of events. Tuesday and Friday evenings were enlivened by concerts, mainly by local independent artists and bands. Art Wednesdays were dedicated to summer cinema, author readings, and artistic performances intended for the general public and cultural connoisseurs. A pleasant combination of DJ sets and gastronomy as part of the Thursday programs "Eat'n'Beat" and "Saturday Cocktail" offered a different gastronomic experience each time. Last but not least, families with children were also taken into account, and as part of the afternoon program blocks – Depo for Children – the experience of theater performances was combined with workshops. As part of the Tuesday and Friday concerts, more than 30 open-air concerts by local bands were presented. On each of these evenings, it was possible to listen to an almost three-hour program by one or two bands. The musical genres were truly diverse. Thursdays and Saturdays hosted themed gastro evenings called "Eat'n'Beat" and "Saturday Cocktails" under the baton of HEY MAMA Grill&Bar, which prepared selected dishes and drinks from around the world. Dinners in the spirit of Texas BBQ Redneck Party, Taste of New York, and Mediterranean Seafood Compilation were accompanied by Pilsen DJs playing music to complement the good food and drinks. Art Wednesdays were relaxing, full of entertainment and art. The program included a summer cinema in cooperation with Finále Plzeň, author readings with Svět knihy, a performance by the French circus troupe Cie Pieds Perchés, an open-air SLAM Poetry exhibition, and a performance by Revival Kabaret Dubnička Lahoda. The third year brought several novelties. This time, the program presented Czech bands and projects that were awarded not only here, but also abroad. The audience could, for example, watch the duo Kalle, Ochepovsky & ILÆY trio or The Valentines shortlisted for the Eurovision Song Contest. The stage also belonged to four up-and-coming bands who went through the DEPOvLETu Artist Academy professional training seminar in June. There was also the traditional Stand Up Comedy on a stand, a swing dance hall and, newly, an evening bar with a grill from the Ústředna DEPO café and bistro. DEPOvLETU kicked off on July 20 with Stand-up Comedy Na stojáka. Ester Kočičková returned to Pilsen after a long absence, accompanied by Dominik Heřman Lev and Petr Vydra. The following days were filled with evening concerts, which this time had a more alternative vibe. The courtyard of DEPO2015 came alive with the energetic music of sought-after producer Igor Ochepovský and live electronic music by the duo Bratři, who have represented the country at many prestigious international festivals. We were also visited by the nominees of the Eurovision Song Contest, The Valentines, the alternative band Kalle, praised by music journalists, together with the winners of the Karlovy Vary Region talent contest, The Sidewaves, and the well-travelled modern rock psychedelic bands Acid Row and Lambda. This year's selection of performers sought to better reflect the spirit of DEPO2015, where the concerts take place, while also offering a pleasant alternative to the more commercial performances that take place in Pilsen during the summer as part of other events and concerts. Four up-and-coming bands secured the opportunity to perform on stage thanks to completing the first year of the DEPOvLETU Artist Academy workshop for beginning musicians. The projects Her nature and The Amsterdam Hamster took the stage on the evening of July 21, followed by Nevergreen and Decode on the 27th. The concert marathon was enlivened by a swing dance party on July 26. A live swing band provided music for dancing and listening. DEPOvLETU was also spiced up by gastronomy. This monumental lookout tower has stood in the courtyard of the DEPO2015 cultural and creative zone since 2015, when it was erected as part of the Restart exhibition within the European Capital of Culture 2015 project. The observation tower is 15 meters high, weighs 15 tons, and is made of welded fuel tanks. The aim was to provide a view of the bus depot, something you won't find anywhere else in the Czech Republic. The children got to know basic tools and materials, and could try different techniques for working with wood, metal or recycled materials as part of their own project. At the end of the week, each participant had completed one original project, the implementation of which was advised by a team of our experienced lecturers. The program was created during the preparatory years of the Plzeň - European Capital of Culture 2015 project, and during its existence, more than 500 volunteers participated in the organization of cultural, educational and research events through it. In 2015 alone, they devoted more than 6,000 hours of their free time to culture. The program continues to operate and DEPO2015 has become its home stage. Various places throughout the territory of Pilsen and with a significant influence on their surroundings were transformed during the second year of the WALLZ festival into large-scale, thanks to leading Czech and foreign street art artists and permanent works of art. In total, ten artists participated in the six-day event at the invitation of the DEPO2015 venue, who painted a total of more than 2,500 m2 of surfaces on houses and walls. For example, the legend of the Czech graffiti scene Jan Kaláb, the first lady of Czech street art Toy Box, artists David Strauzz, Jakub Tytykalo, Ondřej Klíma aka Domino or one of the biggest personalities of contemporary European graffiti from the Urban Spree gallery in Berlin, Johannes Mundinger, came to Pilsen. The public could watch the creation of the works "live" throughout the week. "The main goal of this year is the cultivation of public space. All realizations are in places that need this intervention and the proposed graffiti react to the surrounding environment and work with it. We are trying to show the direction that other property owners and managers can follow. With these implementations, we would like to arouse the interest of the residents of Pilsen in the specific place where they live and help them to start noticing things such as non-functional advertisements for companies that no longer exist, but which are permanently created on buildings and overwhelm their surroundings." Zajímá vás program? www.depo2015.cz BAROQUE REGION OF BOHEMIA BAVARIA The main goal of the Baroque Region of Bohemia Bavaria project is to increase the value and connect the common cultural heritage of the Bavarian and Pilsen regions. Part of the project are the neighboring regions of Upper Franconia, Upper Palatinate, Lower Bavaria on the Bavarian side and West Bohemia with the Pilsen and Karlovy Vary regions on the Czech side, which have great cultural and historical potential with their cultural baroque heritage. The project aims to connect the cross-border aspect of Baroque monuments as a common cultural heritage. The Baroque period in this area is characterized by cultural and historical parallels: trade, history, piety and art, these are the same between 1619 and 1745 in Bohemia and Bavaria. Master builders, architects and artists worked on both sides, and their cross-border works are proof of that. The aim of the project is to revive cross-border cultural exchange, significantly increase cultural and tourist activity, connect monuments and events, interest the young generation, discover hidden baroque treasures and revive the entire era with innovative contributions. The following activities were selected to achieve the desired result: 1. Barock-Info information platform Bilingual information platforms Barock-Info - 50 Baroque monuments of national and approx. 130 monuments of regional significance, which will be published on www.zapadoceskebaroko.cz and www.bbkult.net . 2. Magazine of the Baroque region of Bohemia Bavaria To start the Baroque season, at the beginning of summer in 2018, 2019, 2020, the Magazine of the Baroque Region of Bohemia Bavaria will be published with a cultural overview of Baroque monuments for the given season. 3. Baroque online The most important source of information about the Baroque region of Bohemia and Bavaria are the websites www.zapadoceskebaroko.cz and www.bbkult.net . In addition to the Barock-Info information platform, current contributions to the topic will be regularly published on both sites. 4. Behind the Baroque – interactive exhibition at DEPO2015 and on the road The exhibition Behind the Baroque is an interactive exhibition project for children and youth, which will premiere at the end of 2018 at DEPO2015 in Pilsen. The bilingual exhibition will be conceived in an attractive form, which will allow visitors of all generations to actively participate in the discovery of the Baroque theme. 5. Baroque gems of Bohemia Bavaria - traveling exhibition 100 of the most important Baroque buildings in the subsidy area will be presented at a traveling exhibition called Baroque Treasures of Bohemia Bavaria (approx. 50 on the Bavarian side, approx. 50 on the Czech side of the project area). 6. Baroque cultural events Cultural events in and around Baroque architectural monuments on the Czech and Bavarian sides will bring the Baroque period to life. Baroque ensembles, baroque delights and a baroque accompanying program will attract visitors and cement the baroque period in public awareness during the cultural seasons of 2018, 2019 and 2020. 7. Master music classes The master music courses aim to discover the common cultural heritage of baroque music, connect young music students from both sides of the border with professional lecturers and present the discovered and studied works to the public. 8. Seminars Two weekend seminars for tourist guides and a seminar for young craftsmen on the topic of stucco technique. 9. Interpretation and animation of the baroque heritage A professional symposium will be held in the newly restored premises of the monastery in Teplé, focused on the interpretation and animation of the baroque heritage. The target group is all residents of the project area; starting with children from the 1st school year and ending with the senior group. The implementation of the project takes place from 1 October 2017 to 31 September 2020. The leading partner of the project is Bavaria Bohemia e.V., the project partner is Plzeň 2015, z.ú. and KULTURISTA, an association for culture and tourism.
