This monumental lookout tower has stood in the courtyard of the DEPO2015 cultural and creative zone since 2015, when it was erected as part of the Restart exhibition within the European Capital of Culture 2015 project. The observation tower is 15 meters high, weighs 15 tons, and is made of welded fuel tanks. The aim was to provide a view of the bus depot, something you won't find anywhere else in the Czech Republic. Zajímá vás program? www.depo2015.cz DEPOvLETu 2022 For the last ten days of July, the courtyard of the cultural and creative zone DEPO2015 belonged to the music festival DEPOvLETu. The third year brought several novelties. This time, the program presented Czech bands and projects that were awarded not only here, but also abroad. The audience could, for example, watch the duo Kalle, Ochepovsky & ILÆY trio or The Valentines shortlisted for the Eurovision Song Contest. The stage also belonged to four up-and-coming bands who went through the DEPOvLETu Artist Academy professional training seminar in June. There was also the traditional Stand Up Comedy on a stand, a swing dance hall and, newly, an evening bar with a grill from the Ústředna DEPO café and bistro. DEPOvLETU kicked off on July 20 with Stand-up Comedy Na stojáka. Ester Kočičková returned to Pilsen after a long absence, accompanied by Dominik Heřman Lev and Petr Vydra. The following days were filled with evening concerts, which this time had a more alternative vibe. The courtyard of DEPO2015 came alive with the energetic music of sought-after producer Igor Ochepovský and live electronic music by the duo Bratři, who have represented the country at many prestigious international festivals. We were also visited by the nominees of the Eurovision Song Contest, The Valentines, the alternative band Kalle, praised by music journalists, together with the winners of the Karlovy Vary Region talent contest, The Sidewaves, and the well-travelled modern rock psychedelic bands Acid Row and Lambda. This year's selection of performers sought to better reflect the spirit of DEPO2015, where the concerts take place, while also offering a pleasant alternative to the more commercial performances that take place in Pilsen during the summer as part of other events and concerts. Four up-and-coming bands secured the opportunity to perform on stage thanks to completing the first year of the DEPOvLETU Artist Academy workshop for beginning musicians. The projects Her nature and The Amsterdam Hamster took the stage on the evening of July 21, followed by Nevergreen and Decode on the 27th. The concert marathon was enlivened by a swing dance party on July 26. A live swing band provided music for dancing and listening. DEPOvLETU was also spiced up by gastronomy. Visitors could enjoy a selection of cocktails and an evening bar with a grill from the Ústředna DEPO café and bistro. Zajímá vás program? www.depo2015.cz DEPOvLETu 2021 A summer cultural marathon full of music, dance, good food and a relaxed summer atmosphere dominated the DEPO2015 courtyard throughout July. The DEPOvLETU festival followed up on its premiere last year and once again offered a program mix that aimed to start and stir up the cultural scene after the long coronavirus break. Apart from the Na Stojáka event, entry to the entire festival was free. The program consisted of three types of events: dance parties, food events, and concerts, complemented by one stand-up comedy night. All Friday and Saturday evenings in July were devoted to concerts by popular bands. As in the previous year, local bands were given the most airtime. For three Monday evenings, the courtyard of DEPO2015 went back in time a hundred years, when jazz bands rocked the stage and the dance floor spun to the rhythm of swing. Experienced dancers, complete beginners, and even those who just wanted to come and watch were welcome, and perhaps while listening they discovered that swing performed by the best jazz bands in Pilsen had captured their hearts. For those who preferred good food to dancing, two themed gastronomic evenings were prepared. On June 22, it was possible to taste various Asian specialties at the Taste Asia event. On June 29, Mediterranean cuisine took center stage. The Seafood & Prosecco gastronomic evening featured delicacies such as shrimp and calamari, but as the name suggests, there was no shortage of refreshing prosecco either. The third event dedicated to gastronomy was the popular all-day DEPO Street Food Market on June 25, which traditionally brought food trucks and stalls with the best of world street food. Fans of stand-up comedy will not have missed the Na Stojáka event, featuring the (in)correct humor of comedians Adéla Elbel, Tomáš Matonoha, and Richard Nedvěd. Zajímá vás program? www.depo2015.cz DEPOvLETu 2020 From 6/30 to 8/28, the DEPO2015 courtyard was home to live concerts, gastronomic and musical evenings, a summer cinema, theater and special programs for families with children. The whole series of events was given the collective name "DEPOvLETU". The main goal of the project was to support the vibrant cultural scene in the region and support especially local independent artists and other cultural professions, which felt the difficult time associated with the virtual stoppage of cultural activity during the Covid-19 pandemic. DEPOvLETU is a comprehensive regular program consisting of several types of events. Tuesday and Friday evenings were enlivened by concerts, mainly by local independent artists and bands. Art Wednesdays were dedicated to summer cinema, author readings, and artistic performances intended for the general public and cultural connoisseurs. A pleasant combination of DJ sets and gastronomy as part of the Thursday programs "Eat'n'Beat" and "Saturday Cocktail" offered a different gastronomic experience each time. Last but not least, families with children were also taken into account, and as part of the afternoon program blocks – Depo for Children – the experience of theater performances was combined with workshops. As part of the Tuesday and Friday concerts, more than 30 open-air concerts by local bands were presented. On each of these evenings, it was possible to listen to an almost three-hour program by one or two bands. The musical genres were truly diverse. People could choose from a wide range, from swing to reggae to punk. Performers included the Pilsner Jazz Band, P.V.A., Tabasker, BT'n'J, Milan Samek, and many others. Thursdays and Saturdays hosted themed gastro evenings called "Eat'n'Beat" and "Saturday Cocktails" under the baton of HEY MAMA Grill&Bar, which prepared selected dishes and drinks from around the world. Dinners in the spirit of Texas BBQ Redneck Party, Taste of New York, and Mediterranean Seafood Compilation were accompanied by Pilsen DJs playing music to complement the good food and drinks. Art Wednesdays were relaxing, full of entertainment and art. The program included a summer cinema in cooperation with Finále Plzeň, author readings with Svět knihy, a performance by the French circus troupe Cie Pieds Perchés, an open-air SLAM Poetry exhibition, and a performance by Revival Kabaret Dubnička Lahoda. Sundays were reserved for families, who could enjoy theater, musical afternoons, and workshops starting at 3:00 p.m. Among the performing groups were Divadlo Rolnička, Divadlo Loutek Karlovy Vary, and Loutkové divadlo Špalíček. About WALLZ Every year for one week in June, Pilsen is engulfed in a flood of colors during the WALLZ street art festival. The successful project aims to develop quality art in the public space of the city. With their artistic interventions, artists try to cultivate the often unsightly surfaces of various objects, from residential houses, which are reported to the project by the owners themselves, through the technical objects of the city to noise protection walls or entire streets. Zajímá vás program? www.depo2015.cz REST: ART From April to June 2022, together with our Bavarian partner Centrum Bavaria Bohemia, we implemented the REST:ART project, which was supported by the Cíl EUC fund through the Dispositional Fund of the Euroregion Sumava Southwestern Bohemia. The purpose of this cross-border project was to restore former Czech-Bavarian contacts and cooperation, which had been significantly limited in the last two years, and to create new partnerships. During three months, five meetings were held on four topics: April 8, 2022, Pilsen, DEPO2015 The first meeting took place at DEPO2015 and was aimed at representatives of music groups and organizers of smaller/local music festivals. Expert contributions were devoted to the branding of small breweries, working with journalists and organizing cultural events by the brewery. June 12, 2022, Pilsen, embankment on Radbuza The meeting of Bavarian and Czech swing dancers and instructors took place on a hot Sunday in June on the recently opened Plzeň embankment on the Radbuza. During the afternoon, four workshops were held by four lecturers (3 from Bavaria and 1 from the Czech Republic) of swing dances lindy-hop, balboa, shag and boogie-woogie. In the evening part of the program, the Swing Devils musical group played at the swing dance hall at the same place. The interest in this event was very high - over 40 dancers from both countries took part in it. June 23, 2022, Nittenau, Brauerei Jakob The last meeting within the project, and at the same time the second one dedicated to small brewing, was held in Nittenau, Bavaria.
